A great end to the season with a 5-56 win

The morning started very warm and sunny and then cooled a little. Shipston were however, on fire! They stayed true to their season and kept playing their own game.

Harrison had a great game today and took the ball straight from the kick off and went on the attack. Shipston looked very good and were fast and physical. Tackles made, carries straight, passes clean, support swift.

Early in the game Devon took the ball from our scrum and flew forward, passed to Harrison who returned it to Devon for his first try in Shipston colours. 0-5
Max was also in flying form today and made Sam’s first try of the afternoon. 0-10

Henry got in on the action and decided he didn’t like having to kick conversions from the sideline. The team worked the ball down line and Henry finished it with a try under posts which he duly converted. 0-17.
From the scrum the ball came out very quickly and Zack set off, passed the ball out, switched round the back to take the ball again and score under the posts, which Henry again converted. 0-24
Then the first sin bin of the season with a yellow card for Devon, he is so lucky the kangaroo court has already sat this season.... the team will I’m sure teach him the offside rule! Of course Zack is also likely to carry over some penalty to next year too for his hairdressing antics!
Redditch then camped on our try line for 15 mins. The defence was good and Jonno held up two tries. Eventually the Redditch pressure told and when we turned over the ball we struggled to clear, passes were fumbled and the goal post got in the way. 5-24 at half time.

The second half continued in the same vein with Shipston dominant, there were leaps and catches, runs and scrums. There were tries for Charlie D (breaking through the defence), Max (with a storming run), Sam (showing what a flyer he is), Will (nicely passed down the line from a solid scrum), Charlie D again and Declan (who was hunting the Ball after a nice carry from Adam) to leave the final score 5-56

What a great way to end a very good season. Well done all players and coaches.
