Shipston U15’s produced a thrilling 11 try performance against a strong and battling Rugby Lions side in the Warwickshire Cup on 28 February.
Rugby Lions had the first pressure of the game after the kick off was dropped however the Shipston defense held firm and soon gained territory.
Some great forward play led to the first score by Flanker Morgan Haylor who went over out wide. A second score soon followed from left wing James Laister with the conversion added by Henry Hopkins for a 12-0 lead.
Rugby Lions were still in the game and had good pressure but two breakaway tries from inside centre Chris Barker-Harland took the score up to 22-0.
Rugby Lions responded well with a much-deserved try in the corner for a half time score of 22-5.
Shipston stepped up the pressure in the second half and scored early through number 8 Zac Bunker. Hopkins added two more tries with conversions to take the score to 46-5.
Barker-Harland completed his hat trick of tries, which was soon followed by Laister scoring his third and fourth tries.
The forwards were dominant at the breakdown gaining a large amount of turnovers and getting quick ball to the backs who finished off well in a great team performance.
The final score was 63-5 to Shipston.
