Bredon v Shipston

Shipston U15 just came up short against Bredon eventually missing out 19-12 in a very hard fought game on 6 December.

On a wet pitch with a deceptive wind it was a day for the forwards. A very even contest for the first 20 minutes changed when a swirling Bredon kick caused problems for the Shipston defence and Bredon opened the scoring.

A second try soon followed with the extras added to give Bredon a 12-0 lead with a couple of minutes to go until half time. Shipston regrouped though and pressure created a knock on in the Bredon 22. A strong scrum resulted in a great pass to Freddie Symons who went in under the posts. Henry Hopkins converted for a 12-7 score at half time.

Bredon were soon on the attack in the second half and managed to squeeze over near the corner after some great Shipston defence. The kick was missed for a score of 19-7.

The next 20 minutes saw territorial and possession control for Shipston with Bredon creating a few break outs and gaining territory from defensive kicking. Shipston kept coming back and eventually scored a great try in the corner through James Laister.

The final 5 minutes saw Shipston camped in the Bredon 22 with a multitude of penalties coming but Bredon held on through great defence to come out winners.
