Shipston u15s secure victory in a hard fought contest

In a tight and hard fought contest, Shipston came out on top with a victory against a tough Nuneaton outfit.

Nuneaton provided the sternest of tests for our lads so far this season. The opposition came to play - strong at scrum time, solid in the tackle, with a strong runner at no8 and a 10 with a cultured boot, they were a well drilled outfit.

The early exchanges were tight and physical but 10 minutes in our lads started to get their off loading game going and this proved to be the difference between the teams. It was pleasing to see the quality of off loading play - playing heads up rugby, taking contact, looking for support and having support runners on hand - it was good quality play.

At half time Shipston were ahead by one score.

The second half was a more scrappy affair. Nuneaton played to the whistle and showed huge desire to get back into the game - but an inside run from the Shipston outside centre / fly half switch from Isaac Rowles and James Atkins, saw James dance through the defence for a great try.

This effectively delivered the victory to Shipston - with one other try to finally finish it off.

Outstanding performances today from Alex Aplin and Matt Speechley.
