Shipston u15s begin 2014/15 campaign with a 27-12 victory at Alcester
The u15s travelled to Alcester in a hastily rearranged fixture after Redditch dropped out midweek.
After a month of training sessions our Boys were in need of a game to shake off the summer rust, and after a scrappy first half showed some good skill levels in the second half to run out 27-12 winners with 5 tries to 2.
The first half was a typical first hit out of the season - more individual rugby than team rugby, with more than its fair share of basic errors. Alcester opened the scoring with a fine try from their powerful fullback who was a handful throughout the game with ball in hand.
That score sparked our boys in action and we quickly replied with a converted try of our own, only for Alcester to score a second breakaway try to lead at half time 12-7.
The second half proved to be a much more satisfying half of rugby - strong, committed tackling; hard running; with some fine ruck work saw our Boys score 20 points without reply.
Scores by Isaac Clayton (2), Charlie Hutchings, Kieran Parker and James Atkins.
A special mention for Isaac Clayton - his first game for the Club with 2 tries, and more importantly a great performance in all aspects of the game.
