Shipston U14 had a great time on tour to Bristol on 7 and 8 March.
We met up at Hamburger Hill Paintball near Bristol on Saturday lunchtime and the players (with some parents) had a 4-hour paintball session. Luckily the rain held off and everyone had a great time.
We then travelled to a Holiday Inn near Bristol where we continued our tour tradition of taking over the swimming pool, which was followed by a 3 course meal and some good times for the players and the parents.
We were hosted by Chipping Sodbury RUFC on the Sunday, where we played against them and Chippenham RUFC. Having lost a close game to an exceptional Chippenham team we regrouped and came out determined to win against Chipping Sodbury. We were delighted that our ex player George Worboys was able to play for part of this second game. It was also great to catch up with George’s Dad, Nick, who was a previous mini’s Chairman and great supporter at Shipston. We eventually ran out 35-0 winners and the game was followed by a hot meal and tour presentations.
The winners of our tour awards were:
Forwards Player of the Tour: Alex Sabin
Backs Player of the Tour: Chris Barker-Harland
Champagne Moment: Will Baxter (for an incredible twinkle toes side step and score)
Top Tourer: Leo Fossett
Player of the Tour: Henry Hopkins
A massive thank you to Chipping Sodbury for hosting us and to all the players and parents who made this a great tour.
