Stratford started strongly with their powerful looking Backs making inroads into the Shipston 22, but it was Shipston that took the lead through a Penalty from their FlyHalf, Isaac Rowles. The Home team however responded strongly with a Try from their Inside Centre, Seb May, before close to Half Time Shipston responded themselves with a Try in the Corner from a clever break by their Scrum Half, Ollie Cox, who following some excellent off loading, put Will Jackson into space to gallop into the corner.
Half Time score, Stratford 5 Shipston 8.
The second half started as combative and intense as the first half had finished. Both sides performing well under the pressure of either winning and making the Final, or losing and making it to the 3rd/4th place play off. Early pressure saw Stratford concede a series of penalties close to their line, from which a quick tap and the Shispton 10, Rowles, powered his way through a gap in the defensive line.
The last 15 minutes featured some Rugby that both sides can be proud of. Stratford scored a try of their own, but Shipston scored a further 2 tries, the first a cracking long range, powerful, weaving run by their No.8, Charlie Hutchings to score almost under the posts, and the second a well executed set move by the Backs finished off by the outside centre, James Atkins.
Final Score, Stratford 10 Shipston 28.
A first class Team performance, Shipston now play Chipping Norton in the Final on March 13th.
