A very Merry Christmas to everyone, albeit somewhat belated.

So, today is Saturday and tomorrow is Sunday - but no rugby at Shipston! Boo-hiss, I hear you all cry!!

We find ourselves in that very strange no-man's land between one enormous culinary and alcoholic blowout and the next and, if you're like me, many of you will be wondering exactly what to do over this fallow weekend. Well, as ever, Shipston Rugby Club rides straight to the rescue with the perfect opportunity to get out there in the fresh air and get stuck-in to some gentle exercise, and a smidgen of light refreshment afterwards.

It cannot have escaped your notice that the playing fields and the areas around our club buildings are littered with discarded drinks bottles, poly cups and a range of other delightful bits and pieces of rubbish left behind by . . . you-know-who (no, not Santa!).

A swift tidy-up is all that is required, so I cordially invite you to join me at 11am tomorrow morning for a very quick 20/30-minute dash around the property to pick up refuse and make the place look a whole lot better. Please bring along a black refuse sack and a pair of gloves, and we'll all get stuck into it.The more the merry-er . . . ho, ho, ho.

Your reward, a lovely cup of fresh coffee from our brand-spanking new Rijo42 coffee machine and/or a glass of mulled wine - not to mention the satisfaction of having put a sparkle on the face of the club for the new year ahead.

See you all at 11am tomorrow. And, thanks in advance for your help.

Nick Underwood.
